Provides in-office and teletherapy speech-language/feeding evaluation and treatment

The term "speech" essentially refers to the way a person sounds when he or she speaks. There are 3 different subcategories of speech:  articulation, voice, fluency. Articulation refers to the way an individual produces sounds. Voice is how an individual's voice sounds. Fluency refers to how smoothly an individual speaks, often referred to as "stuttering" in the case of a disorder.

"Language" is the term used to describe words and their meanings. There are 2 different subcategories of language: expressive and receptive. Expressive language refers to the words an individual uses while receptive language refers to comprehension of words.

Feeding disorders are typically associated with sensory and/or behavioral causes whereas swallowing disorders are typically associated with functional causes.

"Pragmatics" refers to social skills, such as conversational turn-taking, speaking with an appropriate volume, or respecting personal space.

About Me

Be the Change Therapy was started in 2020. Rachel graduated from the University of Georgia in 2014 as a “double dawg” with a Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. With more than 5 years experience under her belt, Rachel decided it was time to step out on her own, providing quality in-home, in-daycare, and teletherapy speech-language services. A quote that has always held significant meaning for Rachel is “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” This quote embodies the way Rachel approaches speech therapy, aiming to make a difference in each and every one of her clients’ lives.
